A recent string of automobile break-ins has police once more urging residents to lock their automobile doors.

Not less than 14 cars were illegally entered overnight Feb. 13-14 in Winnetka, in keeping with the Winnetka police reports. Multiple burglaries reportedly occurred on Boal Parkway and within the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Asbury Avenue.

In most of the reported break-ins, nothing was stolen; nevertheless, a laptop was stolen from one automobile, a bag of sporting equipment from one other, and sunglasses from one other.

In a overwhelming majority of the break-ins, the vehicles were left unlocked in driveways.

Police are reminding residents to lock their cars even once they are at home and to call 911 when witnessing any suspicious activity around vehicles.
