North Chicago man suspected of using false flat tire scenario to abduct 22-year-old woman

LAKE COUNTY, In poor health. — A North Chicago man is accused of pretending he had a flat tire after which kidnapping a girl in the course of the ruse.

On Feb. 25 at around 2:10 a.m., a 911 call was placed saying a friend, a 22-year-old woman from Wisconsin, was just kidnapped.

As they were driving home, a person, later identified as Jonatan Luna-Carrasco, 28, of North Chicago, pulled alongside them as they were on Route 41 in Wadsworth.

Luna-Carrasco allegedly told the pair he had a flat tire and so they pulled over to help.

He encouraged the 22-year-old woman to remain warm inside his vehicle, authorities said. Luna-Carrasco then allegedly fled with the girl against her will.

The lady was in a position to jump out of his automobile within the 3500 block of Highland Avenue in Gurnee. She ran to a close-by home for help.

Police helped the girl, where she stated Luna-Carrasco allegedly made sexually comments to her.

Deputies learned Luna-Carrasco was driving a gray Dodge Durango and an arrest warrant was issued on March 22. He was arrested in Waukegan on Saturday.

Detectives imagine this was not Luna-Carrasco’s first time allegedly kidnapping someone. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 847-377-4000.
