It’s the perfect time to check out this honest-to-hops pour-your-own beer hall. The brewery collective at District Brew Yards offers light lagers, pistachio cream ales, bourbon barrel-aged boozies and nearly 40 other beers on tap. Buck up for feats o’ uber strength in this year’s Stein Holding Contest. How long can you raise a two-liter stein full of beer? $10 gets you a stein to take home and two liters of your favorite Oktoberfest from the brewery (space is limited for contestants). The Happy Wanderers provide the oompah and dinner options include ordering up BBQ, chicken or tacos.

What could be better than a four-course German-inspired Oktoberfest dinner? Perhaps a four-course German-inspired Oktoberfest dinner with beer pairings from Metropolitan Brewing. Indulge in offerings such as the Bratwurst Sausage Flammkuchen (flatbread) with gruyere cheese and caramelized onions, Pretzel Crusted Cod, and Hackbraten (German meatloaf) and finish it all off with the Apple Strudel. Each course from start to finish paired perfectly with German-style lagers. A representative from Metropolitan Brewing will join as a guest speaker to discuss the pairings.

Art activities like pumpkin decorating will occupy all ages. Weekend rock concerts with awesome local bands will cheer grown-ups in back of the Skokie brewery (21+ and no cover). Try your hand at stein hoisting or their relaxed take on Hammerschlagen, a game involving two hammers (a wedge-shaped, not sharp end), a stump and some nails.

At 4:00, the feast begins with brats, pastrami, pretzels and more from Goodstuff Eats.
