Highland Park Elementary School cleared following bomb threat resulting in evacuation

Police are on the scene at Red Oak Elementary School in Highland Park Thursday morning following a bomb threat made against the varsity, in line with the City of Highland Park.

Red Oak was evacuated, in line with North Shore District 112, with students and staff relocating to nearby Sherwood Elementary School.

In a social media post, the City is advising residents to avoid the realm near the varsity, 530 Red Oak Lane, which is west of Route 41 and just north of Clavey Road. Red Oak Lane is closed between Rosemary and Ridge roads as of press time.

No further information was immediately available.

Red Oak Elementary is a component of North Shore School District 112, which reportedly has delayed school not less than two hours for Red Oak students and can provide updates to district parents.
